Ah, thank you everyone. My favorite comment of all time. This could either mean I’m getting myself into some unnecessary bullshit for fun OR I’m making some highly questionable decision in the eyes of humanity. Either way, something’s up.
And something is most definitely up. As quick as the summer heat is cooling down into fall, I am quitting my first professional job after just three short months and skipping off to a new one.
“But what about your resume? Don’t you want to have a year printed indelibly on there, to show you are serious about your career?”
Quite frankly, no.
The troubling idea of a piece of paper keeping me innately in a spot where I would rather not be spending my nine to five for the next year is quite possibly the most massive downfall in the expectations of humanity. That we trade our sanity to sit behind a desk at a place we don’t fall head over heels for, day in and day out, and just choke it down like orange cough syrup. It’s what we are told we are supposed to do. You were born for this.
My call is to skip the ink on paper and save the passion. Go find it and go for it––whatever “it” might be. And yes, you might be insane. But at the end of the day when your tangled up in your sheets can you be proud enough with yourself and your decisions in this all too short life? Can you say that you’ve spent this God given day lucky enough doing something you love, and not just for security?
It’s actual quite simple. “You are born and then you die, but in between these two moments you can do anything you want.” Live a little, love a lot––but most importantly be insane.
